The bad thing about that "characteristic" rash is that half the time it doesn't show up.

Yep, if you have the rash then you pretty much have it, but you can have it without the rash too.

the doc said that's a myth he always tries to dispelHe should provide a bottle of wine along with the antibiotics prescription if he really wants to dispel that myth. It might get picked up by the local newspaper and then he'd be dispelling all over the place. |

I've never even heard that myth. Does it apply to all antibiotics, or just a select few?

I don't know, I've always heard you shouldn't drink while on antibiotics of any kind because it can negate the effects. Kind of like being on
antibiotics can negate birth control pills.

Kind of like being on antibiotics can negate birth control pills. But, wait, this one's true, right? |

Yes, that one is true. Didn't mean to imply it's not, just that it's the same theory as to why you shouldn't drink when on antibiotics. But you
absolutely can get pregnant while on them.

Okey dokey. Getting drunk, ok. Getting drunk and getting it on, not ok.

Exactly.

My doctor did say that when I took Flagyl (for anaerobic bacteria) that I should avoid alcohol like the plague unless I wanted to be puking all night. A google
search, however, indicates that there are mixed feelings on this.

I know you can't drink while being treated for TB because it can kill your liver--which is why there's so much antibiotic-resistant TB around.
Alcoholics drink themselves homeless, end up in shelters, pick up TB from someone else in the shelter, get diagnosed, start TB medication, quit before
finishing the 6-month course so they can drink again, & voila! Drug-resistant TB.
