My digital camera croaked. I was kinda glad, because it gave me an excuse to buy a new & better one. Then I fixed it, the same way I've always fixed
it: drop it from a few inches' height. Now I have no excuse to buy a new one, but I think I'm still going to (my little bit for the economy!) and pass
this one along to one of my niblings.

I haven't gotten around to getting a digital camera yet. I think I kinda need one.

Me neither (big surprise, I know). I like film. I like my film developing store & the people who work there. I love going through the pack of photos one by
one, holding them in my hand, putting them in albums as well as uploading the photos online via CD. Even though at this point it's adults as well as
children who say "let me see" right after I take the shot (I laughed when it was just my nieces), I'm sticking with the old fangled technology
for now.

I'm the happiest girl on earth because I just figured out how to get my old Kyocera ringtone on my new LG cell phone. And in other news, I hate change.
ETA: Now I figured out how to get the alert sounds that are built into Apple onto my phone! There's some common sounds that are used as alerts on all Macs, like "glass" (sounds like a spoon hitting a glass) and "purr" (sounds like a computerized cat purring.) Now I can use those one-second snippets to alert me to a text message, instead of the obnoxious door bell sound I was using before.

If I get a new digital camera it will be the first one I've bought. My current and previous ones were hand-me-downs from family members.

I bought a computer! I bought an HP computer that has tons of space and a 22" HD monitor. Holy moly, it's big.

Tell me about it, H20! My new monitor is 22 inches and it's huge!

Gmail has been driving me crazy for two days, so I'm not surprised. They just did an update and it seems to be screwing with everything.

Something seems to be wrong with my brand new keyboard. When I press shift and the question mark key I get É and when I try to type an apostrophe I also get È.
What the heckÉ Is my keyboard defective or is this correctableÉ.

I've done all the orientation work and will start volunteering at the animal shelter shortly. They're always looking for ideas on how to get their
message out, and I thought I might suggest seeing if I could put my smattering of video training to work and create something out of one of their Adoption Days
(every third Saturday of the month they take a group of dogs to a PetSmart for out-of-shelter socializing and adoptions). I think it would be fun and would
help expand my resume, since I haven't really worked with video since college.
So perhaps with my tax refund *crosses fingers that I get good one* I'll look into video cameras. I obviously won't need something uber-professional -- especially when the home market is so good these days -- but somehow I don't think my little digital camera that can do 4-minute spurts of video would quite cut it. Especially since the one time I actually used it for video it looked like there was a small nuclear explosion nearby for half of it. |

Those Flip Video cameras seem to do such a good job. And they're small and not that expensive. That's what they give us reporters in the office if we
want to shoot video to accompany a story.
H20, I don't know the PC version of this but my computer has a "preferences" pane in the system preferences folder for "keyboard." You might check to see if your keyboard preferences are set to English. Also, this weekend I seem to be doing fine "fixing" my computer by just unplugging things and plugging them back in. I guess it wouldn't hurt to just unplug your computer and plug it back in, just in case... |

Hmm. I left my computer for a few hours and it seems to be back to normal. Weird. Thanks for the tip though.

The graphic designer I work with got a Flip for Christmas & is in love with it. He said he handed it to the kids Christmas day & they were able to
shoot some great stuff with it.
I think they go for around $180, but there's also an HD version that goes for $230 or so. What he had was the cheaper one; if you're not going to be showing these things on an HDTV, the cheaper one should be fine. |

The other downside, or just something to watch out for with the Flip HD, is that the video file sizes are going to be enormous.

Was there something wrong with sbcglobal and att.net email addresses today? Our director is getting really pissy about the dozens of undeliverable emails from
his budget updates, and a ton of these are sbcglobal and att.net addresses, some of which i know are valid addresses that i've emailed to as
recently as yesterday. Of course the director is all "just fix it!" like the addresses must all be wrong. Dude, if there's something wrong with
AT&T's server, i don't think there's anything we can do about it.

I did something wonky earlier and now my cursor is messed up. Instead of being the regular white arrow with black outline mostly pointing north, it's now a
two-way black arrow pointing east-west. It works on most programs but not Outlook. Does anyone know how I can get it back to the regular arrow without
rebooting?

IME, do you have any idea what the something wonky was?
To change your cursor you go into Control Panel/Mouse/Pointers and you can select what kind of pointer you want there. |
