No, I never went and watched the audition shows. Just parts of the first Vegas episode. I did rewatch some of the more talked about auditions (like Memphis
jukin guy, Kelsea Traylor... or whatever her name is, the woman with the quirky dance style who I loved and would have been very upset about not making it to
Top 20 if I had watched initially).
Randi/Evan have had good luck, with only one dance out of their wheelhouse. Melissa/Ade have similarly benefited (and Melissa also benefited from Mary not critiquing her rumba as much as it should have been). Brandon/Janette is the only power couple this year who have actually demonstrated versatility, although Ade and Randi both did fairly well with their out-of-genre dance. Brandon/Janette have been particularly screwed as they haven't had any dances in EITHER of their genres. This year, in particular, it really seems like luck is affecting perception and results. Oh, and I don't recall Evan getting much attention in the SS group dance, so I'd be a bit worried about his hip hop.
I'm wondering if with da Silva persona non grata, we're not going to see any salsa this year. Poor Janette (although I guess better no salsa than her being in the Benji/Lacey situation of having to watch another couple do their specialty!)
